2021 RAM 1500 Classic | Price, Features and Performance
When you need a solid and capable truck at an affordable price, the Ram 1500 Classic is hard to beat. Based on its mainstream Ram 1500 half-ton sibling, the Classic version strips back the extras and simplifies the engine choices to deliver a huge pickup experience at a lower expense.
We have the latest 2021 version of the Classic now available at our Kelowna dealership, and here are the key highlights of this best-selling truck.
Classic Pickup Design
The 2021 Classic comes in two cab formats. At the base level, the Regular Cab has two doors giving access to a single bench seat for three. Moving up the trims upgrades to a four-door Quad Cab, with two rows of seating for up to six passengers.
In terms of looks, it's a case of Classic by name and classic by nature. An aggressive front grille, high ground clearance, and chunky styling all combine in a modern design that oozes confidence.
Power Under the Hood
Compared to the multitude of powertrain options on the mainstream Ram 1500, the Classic's range is narrowed down to just two. However, they're both extremely powerful and provide the capability for any light-to-medium duty task.
At the entry-level, the 3.6L V6 gasoline engine makes an impressive 305 horsepower along with 269lb-ft of torque, passed through an eight-speed automatic transmission to your choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. But if even this isn't enough, there's a 5.7L V8 option that pushes the ponies up to 395hp while increasing the twist to 410lb-ft, powering the Classic into a new level of performance.
Towing and Payload
The hefty powertrains mean the 2021 Classic has some handsome capability figures. All trucks in the range can handle up to 857kg in payload, but it's in towing capacity where the ratings are truly eye-catching. The V6 can haul up to 2,164kg in trailer weight, while a suitably configured V8 Classic can pull up to 7,246kg, setting it apart from most competitors in the segment.
Infotainment and Technology
Part of the appeal of the Classic is the way it strips back unneeded extras, and with the lower Tradesman trim this means there's little to note when it comes to infotainment. However, higher trims are as well equipped in this area as any family car, with a large 8.4" touchscreen giving access to inbuilt navigation and smartphone integration functions.
The technology continues into the safety systems too, with standard highlights including trailer brake control, electronic stability control, and a rear camera with rear parking assistance.
2021 Ram 1500 Classic Price in Kelowna
For such a capable truck, the Classic is surprisingly affordable. The lowest two-door Tradesman trim has a Canadian starting price of just $36,295, rising to $55,590 for the Warlock trim which provides the full high-end performance and technology package.
